Nestled deep in the jungle, the hotel offers an exceptional experience for nature lovers. Waking up to the sound of trees rustling and birds chirping is priceless. the staff deserves a special mention. They were extremely welcoming, organized a sunset boat trip along the backwaters, and a full, day jeep safari to the nearby Wilpattu National Park. the eco, lodges surrounded by greenery are spacious, clean, and comfortable. the food was delicious, especially the fusion dishes. A perfect location for an adventure trip!
The signage on arrival needs improvement to avoid confusion about parking and check, in.

My stay at Backwaters was truly amazing. The location made me feel like I was in a secluded jungle cabin, surrounded by nature. The staff was extremely friendly and attentive, making me feel well taken care of. I even had the incredible opportunity to see slender lorises in the trees right next to where I was dining. The food was delicious, with lots of local curries prepared by the talented local villagers. The owner, Tharique Omar, was a gracious host and the entire staff, especially Rizvi and Daas. The boat trip was a sensational experience that I won't spoil, but trust me, it's worth it. Backwaters provided the perfect location for exploring Wilpattu NP and offered a relaxing and peaceful atmosphere.

Had an excellent Christmas vacation! The breathtaking views of the surrounding vegetation and the natural location of this hotel are best experienced from the veranda of the room. The staff was very welcoming; they greeted us warmly and served us refreshing complimentary local drinks. It was great to be just a few kilometers away from the entrance to the national park. We had a splendid time canoeing on the river and swimming in the calm waters. The location of this hotel surrounded by forest trails, with ample birdlife, and no noise pollution kept us relaxed and stress-free.
The only negative point that we noticed was the size of the rooms which was smaller compared to other hotels. the size of the room didn't impact much on our Christmas vacation enjoyment, and we had a pleasant and comfortable stay.

Tranquil Nature Retreat
Nestled in a peaceful location close to a national park, the Backwaters offers a unique and nature-based experience. the rooms, made from shipping containers, are stylish and comfortable, providing a modern and luxurious stay. the attentive staff goes above and beyond to cater to guests' needs, even accommodating special requests. the inclusive meals are delicious and cooked with fresh, local produce. the eco-friendly approach of filtering water instead of relying on plastic bottles is commendable. Excursions, such as boat trips and safaris, offer opportunities to explore and connect with the abundant wildlife.
Limited entrance options to the nearby national park due to recent heavy rains.

the view from the balcony of our room was breathtaking, with beautiful birds chirping around us. We were conveniently located near a national park where we went on an enjoyable safari. We also appreciated the variety of activities offered, like kayaking and boat trips.
The food was very bland, and we didn't enjoy the same dishes served multiple times daily. the staff seemed uninterested in providing us with information or recommending places to visit outside of the hotel.
